Operation Taste raises $45,000 for fun trip for kids with serious illnesses

The volunteer-based public charity, Operation North Pole (ONP), got some much-needed help from their fundraising arm, Operation Taste, on February 6 when more than 325 hungry attendees came to Café la Cave in Des Plaines to help raise funds for a magical day for a family with a terminally-sick child. ONP works with Chicago’s major children’s hospitals, emergency and fire departments to provide a day of fun and fantasy for families who have a child battling a life-threatening illness by hosting a fantasy trip to the North Pole. Twenty top restaurants donated their time and gourmet nibbles to the cause. The event raised $45,000. For more information see: operationnorthpole.org
